So we went to the doctor and...

I am stunned....Joshua has pneumonia! His only two symptoms were high fever and refusing to eat. I thought pneumonia usually was following a bout with the flu or cold but I guess not. The doctor asked how long he has been ill. I told him it started two days ago with a fever. The next day he began refusing his bottle and would only nurse. Being as we only nurse now in the am and pm he wasn't getting much nourishment folks. He would eat a little jar food but since liquids were not happening I was worried he would get dehydrated. The doctor checked his ears and they looked fine and then he listened to him breath. He asked if he has been coughing or had a runny nose. I said he had a slight drip in the beginning but it had stopped. Without even checking his throat he said he wanted to rule out pneumonia. I told him he had appeared to swallow hard so I thought his throat was sore. He said babies rarely get strep. I asked him to check before we do the xray. So he went ahead and peaked (of course with Josh's disapproval) and nada. We were then sent upstairs for the xray.

I had left my purse with James in the waiting room so I had no insurance info. The xray office of course wanted the info since the doctor's office and their office's computer were not connected to the same network. I asked if I could get it after the appointment. They asked if I could fax it tomorrow. I said I could only email it and they said it had to be faxed. Sooooooooooo, after the appointment I told them I could go downstairs and get it and the technician said that they were leaving. I couldn't believe they could not wait 3 minutes while I went to get it. This is a very small building so it wouldn't take long at all. They said no but they could fax it from downstairs. When I got downstairs they were surprised that they wouldn't wait for me to bring it back upstairs and said they would fax it for me.

The doctor finally came back to our room about 20 minutes later and told us the results of the xray and prescribed Joshua zithromax. We got the script filled and today, after only one dose, his fever has stayed down all day so far. He ate about 4 ounces of formula and two jars of baby food. I think he is on the mend.

Oh Poor baby and poor mama too. I'm sorry your little guy (or should I say big guy, he's keeping up with my boys) is feeling so under the weather. Hopefully the good antibiotics and some mama love will have him on the road to healing.
