Jacob's preschool readiness eval is done and he is in a new preschool. I did not want to yank him out of his current preschool too quickly so he goes to both schools for now. Hopefully he will love the new school and since we have two days under our belt it seems like it is going to be something he enjoys. He got to ride the school bus today so that was a really big deal. The bus driver said I picked a good day too. We are having our first winter snow storm of the season and we are expecting anywhere from 4" to 7"! Soooooooo, Jacob has on his new boots as well. He will have speech therapy two days a week. This school has fewer children as well (9 as opposed to 17) so he will get more one on one as he works through his speech delay and social development. I am sure he will blossom over the next few months. We are probably going to put him in this new school full time after the first of the year. It will be 5 mornings a week.
Now, onto other current concerns. Eric's dad suspects our son may be experimenting in some naughty things. Anyone ever hear of huffing? The suspect items found were a can of whip cream in his car, a can of endust (no Eric is NOT a neat freak folks and his dad owns no endust) in his room along with an empty fifth of tequila under his mattress, and a box with all edges well taped with a hole in the top. It seems huffing is done with common household items including canned air and can lead to cardiac arrest and death for some kids. It is like playing Russian roulette as you do not know if you might inhale a fatal shot. I hope we are wrong on this. We plan on having a MAJOR talk as soon as we can get all his parents together. This comes on the tail end of Eric wanting to split time between his dad and my house (1 week on and 1 week off). This should make it incredibly difficult to keep track of him so we may opt out of this setup for now. Oh and I forgot to mention he was drinking one night when he was out of town for a crosscountry meet and called his step sis to say he would not drive to her house to spend the night because he had been drinking. I am very glad he decided to stay put but obviously not so glad he decided to drink.
So you see folks I have been extremely busy on the ole home front. I do try and keep up reading but posting has not been easy. I will try and update after we confront Eric and to say how Jacob is doing in his new school. Good grief...I wish it were easy things to solve. I was holding Joshua the other day while talking to my ex on the phone and he had a boogie in his nose. I said to him 'I wish this were as easy to solve as picking a boogie out of Josh's nose'. Those were the good ole days....

Unfortunately, those are the classic signs of huffing. Thank god your ex is as nosy/astute as he is, or else you never would have known. Now you just have to confront him- and get him some help. People DIE from huffing, all the time. Yes, just about all kids drink and experiment in bad things, but they have to know the dangers. This is some serious shit, and I wish you GOOD LUCK.
See my blog for my similar experiences....
